Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

1 product

The villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet share the Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet appellations. Chevalier is located in Puligny, while Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet are in Chassagne. These are the southernmost Grand Cru vineyards of the Côte-d'Or, situated between Meursault (to the north) and Santenay (to the south). Originating in the Middle Ages, initially the work of the Cistercian abbey of Maizières and the lords of Chagny, Montrachet (pronounced Mon-Rachet) reached its full splendor in the 17th century. No one disputes it: it is the finest Chardonnay wine on Earth! Montrachet is also a family of four closely related Grand Cru vineyards: Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet (AOC Grands Crus since July 31, 1937).
