Tenuta Tignanello
Located in the heart of Chianti Classico , on sun-drenched hills between the Greve and Pesa valleys, the Tenuta Tignanello estate is one of the historic jewels of the Marchesi Antinori family. It spans 319 hectares, 165 of which are dedicated to vines planted in Pliocene marine marl soils, rich in limestone and schist. These demanding yet bountiful lands benefit from an ideal climate where the warmth of the day contrasts with the cool nights, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and in perfect balance.
It is on this exceptional terroir that the estate's two emblematic wines are born: Tignanello and Solaia , both located on the same hillside. These wines, true icons of Tuscany, revolutionized the history of Italian wine by combining indigenous grape varieties, notably Sangiovese, with international varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon . Praised by the international press as "among the most influential wines of Italian viticulture," they bear witness to a savoir-faire that blends tradition, innovation, and excellence . For Marchesi Antinori, Tignanello and Solaia represent both a constant challenge and an inexhaustible passion: that of expressing, vintage after vintage, the quintessence of the Tuscan terroir.

“The 2022 Tignanello presents itself as a wine of remarkable elegance and precision. Lively acidity cuts through a heart of typical Sangiovese red fruit, while notes of crushed flowers, mint, cinnamon, rose petal, and a subtle touch of French oak bring brightness and complexity. This vintage, with its rather ethereal profile, seduces with the harmonious balance of all its elements. The late-season rains, although present, were perfectly managed thanks to the estate's steep, well-drained slopes.”

Winemaking
This vintage demanded constant attention, from vine to cellar, where every detail of the sorting and winemaking process was crucial to achieving excellence. Fermentation, carried out in truncated conical vats, was accompanied by gentle maceration to preserve aromas, extract color, and obtain supple, elegant tannins. After meticulous daily tastings, the wine was transferred to small oak barrels to undergo malolactic fermentation, a guarantee of finesse and complexity.
Beneath the elegant vaulted ceilings of the Tignanello cellar, specially designed to offer ideal aging conditions, the wines are aged separately by grape variety in mostly new French and Hungarian oak barrels. After an initial aging period of just over 13 months, the batches are blended and then refined before continuing their maturation in the bottle for a further 12 months. Primarily composed of Sangiovese , with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc , Tignanello matures here in a setting designed to enhance the wine's purity and balance.
