    Tasting notes

The 2016 Blason d'Issan displays a beautiful, deep ruby color with garnet highlights. The expressive nose blends notes of ripe red fruit, black cherry, and an elegant touch of fine oak. On the palate, the attack is supple, the body harmonious with silky tannins and lovely freshness. The persistent finish reveals aromas of wild berries and cedar.

The Château d'Issan vineyard stretches across deep gravel soils typical of the Médoc, resting on a clay-limestone subsoil. These conditions provide optimal drainage and slow ripening of the grapes, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines used for Blason d'Issan benefit from controlled cover cropping and sustainable viticulture, guaranteeing the full expression of the terroir in each cuvée.

    Owner and history

Château d'Issan has belonged to the Cruse family since 1945, and today they are supported by Jacky Lorenzetti, who also owns Château Pédesclaux in Pauillac. Together, they have undertaken a respectful modernization of the estate. Their vision: to combine Bordeaux tradition with winemaking innovation to guarantee wines of consistent quality. Their commitment to sustainable viticulture further strengthens Château d'Issan's reputation for excellence on the international stage.

    Vinification and aging

The estate practices rigorous plot-by-plot vinification, with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The 2016 Blason d'Issan is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, approximately one-third of which are new. This approach preserves the freshness of the fruit while refining the tannic structure, giving the wine suppleness, elegance, and aging potential.
