The Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande vineyard covers approximately 70 hectares, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vines, over 30 years old, are cultivated in clay-limestone soils, which offer excellent drainage and mineral richness. The region's oceanic climate, with its mild winters and sunny summers, promotes optimal grape ripening. Careful vineyard management, combined with respectful viticultural practices, results in high-quality grapes, ensuring successful winemaking.

Owner and history

Currently, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is managed by the Rouzaud family, who also own the Louis Roederer Champagne house. This family group, renowned for its commitment to excellence, has modernized the estate while respecting its history and terroir. Under their leadership, the château has achieved remarkable results, solidifying its international reputation. The owners place particular emphasis on sustainability and innovation, ensuring that each bottle of La Réserve de la Comtesse reflects the expertise and passion that drive the estate.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for the 2016 Réserve de la Comtesse is characterized by a traditional and meticulous approach. The carefully selected grapes are destemmed and crushed before fermenting in temperature-controlled tanks. This crucial step preserves the freshness and typicity of the fruit. Aging in oak barrels, some of which are new, lasts approximately 12 months, imparting finesse and complexity to the wine. Each barrel is carefully monitored, ensuring the harmony of aromas and tannins. This meticulous attention to detail at every stage is reflected in the exceptional quality of the Réserve de la Comtesse.
