The Saint-Joseph vineyards stretch across the steep slopes of the Rhône's granite hills, enjoying optimal sunshine. The mineral-rich soils are ideal for growing white grape varieties, particularly Marsanne and Roussanne. The temperate, Mediterranean climate promotes slow ripening of the grapes, resulting in a refined and complex aromatic expression. Each plot is carefully cultivated to respect the natural balance, ensuring high-quality harvests.

Owner and history

Today managed by Michel Chapoutier, the estate remains family-owned, guaranteeing expertise passed down through generations. Michel, passionate about sustainable viticulture, has modernized the estate while respecting tradition. Under his guidance, each wine is crafted with meticulous care, aiming to reveal the authentic character of each terroir. Les Granits Blanc is a perfect example of this philosophy, embodying the estate's passion and commitment to winemaking excellence.

Vinification and aging

The 2017 Saint-Joseph Les Granits Blanc is crafted with meticulous care using biodynamic methods. After hand-harvesting the grapes, they are gently pressed to extract the juice. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, preserving freshness and aromatic intensity. Aging on fine lees for several months gives the wine a silky texture and enhanced complexity.
