The Vieux Château Certan vineyard covers 14 hectares, planted primarily with Merlot, which thrives in clay-gravel soil. This terroir, nourished by a temperate oceanic climate, promotes ideal grape ripeness, allowing for the full expression of aromatic richness. The vines, averaging 40 years old, are cultivated with care to respect the natural balance of the ecosystem. Each plot is meticulously tended to guarantee optimal grape quality, and the grapes are harvested by hand to preserve their integrity.

    Owner and history

The Vieux Château Certan estate is currently managed by the Thienpont family, who have successfully combined tradition and innovation. For several generations, the owners have been committed to maintaining the estate's reputation for excellence. Their approach is centered on respecting the terroir and expressing the unique characteristics of each vintage. Thanks to their expertise and passion for winemaking, they continue to produce wines recognized worldwide for their exceptional quality and their ability to age beautifully.

    Vinification and aging

The vinification of Vieux Château Certan 2017 is carried out with meticulous care. The grapes, harvested by hand, are precisely sorted before being destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for optimal temperature regulation. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 18 months. This aging process imparts subtle aromas of wood and vanilla to the wine, while preserving the purity of the fruit. The result is a harmonious wine, revealing the quintessence of the Pomerol terroir.
