Initially a wine merchant, he quickly acquired numerous properties in the area. The Moueix company was founded, and the father passed the torch to his son, Christian. The latter purchased Château La Grave in Pomerol in 1971.

This vineyard dates back to the early 19th century. Originally named“Château La Grave Trigant de Boisset”The name was eventually shortened to simply the name of the renowned Bordeaux terroir. The Château marks the boundary of the Pomerol gravel belt. Surrounded by illustrious estates, Château La Grave holds its own among its peers. The La Grave vineyard and its terroir

THE SUBLIME TERROIR OF POMEROL

It is on the western flank ofthe Pomerol appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux is located theChâteau La GraveThe vineyard, planted in the 1990s, covers 8 hectares. The two main grape varieties, Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%), share this space. They thrive in soil composed primarily of gravel. Clay and sand punctuate this terroir and contribute complexity to the grapes.

Indeed, Merlot reveals its full potential on gravelly soil. The day's warmth lingers into the night, and this consistent temperature imparts a rounded character to the grape. The sands and clays, meanwhile, filter and retain water, allowing for its redistribution. The vines therefore do not suffer from significant water shortages. These soils thus enhance the Cabernet Franc grapes. Situated on a slope, the vineyard benefits from natural drainage.

It's atraditional viticulturewhich is practiced on the estate, with a great deal of work in the vineyard. Aware that good wines cannot be made without good grapes, the winemakers ofChâteau La GraveThey surpass themselves every year. Through leaf removal, green harvesting and plowing, they ensure ideal conditions for vine growth.
