The vineyard of Domaine Gallety is often cited as a model of geometric perfection and rigorous winemaking. Located in the Côtes du Vivarais appellation (southern Ardèche), it is distinguished by a unique landscape reminiscent of Tuscany in its order and beauty. THE domaine extends over about fifteen hectares in one piece, located on the heights of the commune of Saint-Montan. Altitude: The vineyard is perched on a plateau, which allows it to benefit from cool nights even in the middle of summer. This temperature variation is key to the balance of Gallety wines (power and freshness). Isolation: Surrounded by scrubland and woods, the vineyard forms a preserved ecosystem, far from any intensive agricultural pollution. A Precision Clay-Limestone Terroir It is composed of calcareous marls covered with stony scree. This type of soil forces the vine's roots to go very deep in search of moisture, which gives the wines (and particularly Syrare) a minerality and tension that avoids any alcoholic heaviness. A Unique Vineyard Architecture High density and millimeter-precise trellising: Alain and Romain Gallety practice extremely precise pruning and trellising to optimize the exposure of the leaves to the sun while protecting the bunches. Organic Farming: The domaine is certified organic. Here, there are no chemical weed killers; the soil is worked mechanically and biodiversity is encouraged. "Sacrificed" Yields: The house philosophy is to produce little, but produce excellence. Yields are among the lowest in the region (often between 20 and 25 hl/ha), which explains the phenomenal concentration of the berries. Mastering Syrah and Grenache Syrah: It occupies the coolest and highest quality plots (those that produce Syrah). There, it expresses notes of violet and pepper of great purity. Grenache: Planted in the sunniest areas, it brings richness and fullness to blended wines.

Owner and history

The GALLETY family acquired its domaine in 1974, in a charming Ardèche village located within the commune of Saint-Montan. It was initially composed of vineyards, fruit trees, forest and garrigue, all on 80 hectares. Wine production then necessitated the restructuring of the estate. A colossal amount of work was required in selecting grape varieties and establishing a strict cultivation method, which has been maintained ever since. Today, the vineyard comprises 15 hectares of contiguous vines surrounding a building painted in the colors of southern Ardèche. For more than 30 years, Alain and his son David-Alexandre have shared a common passion: the love of wine.

Vinification and aging

50% Grenache Blanc, 40% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne. Vines with an average age of 40 years. Yields of 40 hl/ha. Hand-harvested, vinified and aged in tanks.

A very expressive wine, both on the nose and palate, bursting with fruit. The palate is enhanced by a lovely richness, which, combined with the natural acidity, gives it a remarkable length.

It can be drunk as an aperitif, but also goes very well with fish dishes, seafood, and also with an old-fashioned veal stew.
