Owner and history

The Grands-Échezeaux 2000 of Domaine René Engel is a bottle full of history and emotion. Philippe Engel, who passed away prematurely in 2005, produced wines of absolute elegance, favoring fine texture over massive extraction. The 2000 vintage, often overshadowed by the legendary 1999 or the powerful 2002, is now proving to be a vintage of pure "gastronomy", offering admirable drinkability and tertiary complexity.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Domaine René Engel is made with the utmost care. The grapes, harvested by hand, are rigorously selected before being destemmed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, allowing for precise temperature control. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, to add a touch of complexity without masking the fruit. This aging period, which lasts between 12 and 18 months, gives the wine a harmonious structure and aromatic depth. domaine favours an artisanal approach, ensuring that each bottle tells the story of its terroir.
