THE THE Petit Mouton of Mouton Rothschild 2019 is a resounding success, often cited as one of the best vintages ever produced for this second vin. In 2019, the ideal climate of Pauillac allowed the grapes to reach a maturity that places this wine very close to the level of the "Grand Vin" of twenty years ago.

THE Château Mouton Rothschild is much more than a simple domaine wine-growing; it is a Bordeaux legend, marked by a strong family history and an inseparable link with art. La Baronne Philippine de Rothschild, modernized the domaine until his death in 2014. Today, his three children — Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild — jointly manage the property.

    Owner and history

Le Petit Mouton Rothschild, created in 1993, is the second wine of the château. So what is the difference between it and the First Growth? The vines of Merlot (20%), Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), and Cabernet Franc (10%) are simply younger. Planted on the same gravelly soils, the grapes are handled using the same techniques.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking of Le Petit Mouton The 2019 vintage benefits from the exact same care, infrastructure, and technical team as the Grand Vin. The goal is to create a wine that is more approachable in its youth, while retaining the aristocratic signature of the domaine.

    The team's opinion

Unlike fine wines, which often require 15 years to fully develop, the Petit Mouton 2019 is already starting to be delicious. It will reach its peak between 2026 and 2040.
