THE Petit Mouton of Mouton Rothschild 2021 It stands out clearly from the 2022 vintage with its more classic and "Atlantic" profile. It is a wine that emphasizes freshness, elegance, and a more structured character, typical of the great Bordeaux wines of yesteryear.

    Tasting notes

THE Petit Mouton It can be enjoyed as an aperitif with a light dinner, paired with refined canapés such as tomato caviar, cheese, or mushroom dishes. It would also be perfect with more delicate meats like a rack of Pauillac lamb or duck breast with cranberries.

THE Château Mouton Rothschild is much more than a simple domaine wine-growing; it is a Bordeaux legend, marked by a strong family history and an inseparable link with art. La Baronne Philippine de Rothschild, modernized the domaine until his death in 2014. Today, his three children — Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild — jointly manage the property.

    Owner and history

Le Petit Mouton Rothschild was created in 1993 and is the second wine of the château. The young vines are planted with Merlot (20%), Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), and Cabernet Franc (10%). The soils are gravelly.

    Vinification and aging

Origin: It comes from a selection of plots in the vineyard of Mouton Rothschild, often the youngest vines, but benefiting from the same meticulous care as the Grand Vin.

Aging: The wine was aged in French oak barrels, with approximately 60% new wood, which gives it a solid structure without masking the brightness of the fruit.

    The team's opinion

Although already very charming, it possesses an acidic structure that will allow it to age beautifully. Peak expected between 2026 and 2040. The wine was very well received, notably with a 93-94/100 from James Suckling and a 91/100 from Robert Parker, highlighting its "vivacious" elegance.
