Le nom du vin contient l'essence même de sa qualité :
Costers : Ce sont les pentes abruptes de schiste (ardoise locale appelée llicorella) typiques du Priorat. Ici, pas de mécanisation possible, tout se fait à la main ou à dos de mulet.
Vinyes Velles : Les vignes utilisées pour cette cuvée ont été plantées en 1902. Ce sont des centenaires qui s'enfoncent profondément dans la roche pour puiser l'humidité, produisant des baies minuscules d'une intensité inégalée.
Grâce à l'altitude des parcelles de Mas Doix à Poboleda (le secteur le plus frais de l'appellation), le vin conserve une fraîcheur (acidité) qui équilibre sa structure massive.
