Owner and history

Hervé Bizeul, head of the Domaine of Clos des Fées is a passionate and talented winemaker. Drawing on his experience as a sommelier, he has identified the most promising terroirs of Roussillon and implemented environmentally friendly viticulture. His rigorous approach and constant pursuit of excellence have allowed the domaine to rise to the top of the Languedoc-Roussillon wine hierarchy. Today, he is supported by a dedicated and competent team, sharing his passion for wine and his love of the terroir.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Domaine of Clos "des Fées" is made with the greatest care, respecting tradition and the environment.

CULTURE & TERROIRS: Massal selection of "Tinto Fino" from one of the best terroirs and one of the most famous crus of the Ribeira del Duero. Clay-limestone terroir, typical of Vingrau, rich in very pure calcium carbonate, north-northwest facing.

WINEMAKING: Destemming, pre-fermentation maceration for approximately ten days. Aged in 18-hectoliter oak casks, new for the 2019 vintage, on lees, without racking.

THE Domaine of Clos des Fées continues to surprise us with Le Chat du Marquis 2019, a vintage that pays homage to the tale of Puss in Boots. Hervé Bizeul, who enjoys venturing off the beaten path, proves it here with a single-varietal wine that is rare for the region: a 100% Tempranillo. This vintage was born from a desire for total freedom: that of acclimatizing the great Spanish grape variety to the clay-limestone soils of Vingrau. It is a wine that rivals the finest Rioja wines in elegance, while retaining the sun-drenched character of Roussillon.
