The Il Poggione vineyard is situated at an altitude of 300 meters, on clay-limestone soils that impart a beautiful minerality to the wines. The abundant sunshine promotes optimal ripening of the grapes, allowing the full richness of the Sangiovese grape to express itself. The vines, averaging 20 to 30 years old, are cultivated with care and respect for the environment, guaranteeing high-quality grapes.

    Owner and history

The estate is currently run by the Franceschi family, who passionately uphold the family winemaking tradition. For five generations, they have been committed to producing quality wines that respect the terroir and the environment. Their expertise and love of wine are evident in every bottle, making Il Poggione a symbol of Italian winemaking excellence.

    Vinification and aging

After hand-harvesting, the grapes are carefully sorted before being destemmed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by extended maceration to extract color and aromas. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for approximately 36 months, which imparts complexity and elegance. Bottle aging further refines its aromas before release.
