The Quinta da Romaneira vineyard enjoys an exceptional location in the heart of the Douro Valley. The vines are planted on steep, sun-drenched slopes, benefiting from a unique microclimate. The terroir is composed of schist soils, ideal for viticulture. These poor, well-drained soils allow the vines to root deeply and draw the nutrients necessary for producing high-quality grapes. The altitude and exposure of the vines also contribute to the complexity and richness of Quinta da Romaneira wines. domaine is committed to preserving this unique environment by adopting sustainable and nature-friendly viticultural practices.

Vinification and aging

The Quinta da Romaneira Vintage Port 2017 is crafted with the utmost care, respecting time-honored traditions. The grapes are hand-harvested at peak ripeness and then foot-trodden in traditional lagares (small stone huts). Fermentation is halted by the addition of grape brandy, preserving some of the grapes' natural sugars. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for an undisclosed period to refine its aromas and develop its complexity. Bottling is carried out without filtration to best preserve the wine's organoleptic qualities.
