Created from scratch in 1999 by a joint venture betweenWhite Horse, the famous 1er Cru Classé A andTerrazas de los Andes, owned by pioneers and explorers, at the forefront of modern viticulture in Argentina,Andean horseis made up of the best plots for the expression of thecabernet sauvignonand of themalbec, flagship grape varieties of the region.
Andean horseis a long-term project. The vines, some of which are over 80 years old, have been carefully tended since 1999 with the aim of producing the greatest wine in Argentina, and today this has been achieved.
Today,Pierre LurtonThe estate's President and CEO puts it best: “Over the years and vintages, the estate has forged its own style. Initially intended to become a Bordeaux-style wine,Andean horseis actually very Argentinian. An Argentinian that gallops through time, with elegance. This wine has a unique personality.”
Exceptional terroirs
Top-quality vineyards
At the foot of theAndes mountain rangeThe property extends over the lands ofLas CompuertasAndThe ConsultaThe set design is magnificent: the vineyards express themselves amidst the snow-capped peaks. For the teams ofAndean horseIt took time to find the best expression of these terroirs. The soils are mainly of alluvial origin, with sandy silty deposits, ideal for viticulture.
Las Compuertasis one of the coolest terroirs inArgentinaThis is because it is located where the Rio Mendoza emerges from the mountains. The vineyards are at an average altitude of 1000 meters. Thanks to a significant temperature difference between day and night, the grapes always retain a very good acidity.
The ConsultaThis is a small wine-growing sub-region located at the foot of the San José volcano. The vineyards are mainly situated between 1100 and 1300 meters above sea level. The temperatures in this region are cool, the sun exposure intense, and the air purer, allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness while retaining good acidity.

Andean horseis a unique wine. The blend varies each year to express the best of these terroirs, giving it a distinct identity.Argentinawell-defined. Early harvests, precise work on the plots with regular plowing and gentle extractions give an extra soul to this very special wine.
HASCheval des AndesThe vineyards are made up offrancs footMassal and clonal selection techniques are used. They practice clean viticulture there:
- no herbicide,
- no insecticide
- relevant and effective plant health management which involves continuous observation and prophylaxis.
The property will soon be equipped with a new above-ground winery atLas Compuertas. Off-ground to avoid any seismic risks, which are legion in the region.
