Located in the heart of Argentina's prestigious Mendoza region, the Cheval des Andes estate embodies the harmonious blend of Bordeaux tradition and Andean energy. The result of a visionary partnership between Château Cheval Blanc and Terrazas de los Andes, this estate has been producing wines of great elegance and remarkable complexity since 1999. The vineyards, nestled at over 1,000 meters above sea level, benefit from an exceptional climate that promotes slow and complete ripening of the grapes. Cheval des Andes 2019 is a testament to this unique alliance, offering a refined, elegant red wine of remarkable balance.

The Cheval des Andes vineyards flourish in Luján de Cuyo and Las Compuertas, on alluvial and gravelly soils at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. This unique terroir, influenced by the Andes Mountains, allows for excellent temperature variations between day and night, guaranteeing concentration and freshness. The vines, cultivated using sustainable farming practices, receive meticulous attention, ensuring grapes of exceptional quality for this elite vintage.

    Owner and history

Cheval des Andes was born from the union of Château Cheval Blanc, a Premier Grand Cru Classé A of Saint-Émilion, and Terrazas de los Andes, the Argentinian flagship of the LVMH group. This unique collaboration has created a distinctive estate where Bordeaux rigor meets New World energy. Under the current leadership of Gérald Gabillet, the vision remains clear: to express the singularity of the Andean terroir through profound, elegant, and timeless wines.

    Vinification and aging

The Cheval des Andes estate prioritizes precise, plot-by-plot winemaking, respecting each grape variety. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete tanks with gentle pump-overs to extract color and tannins.
The 2019 vintage is then aged for 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels, about a third of which are new, bringing complexity, depth and elegance, while preserving the identity of the fruit.
