The La Mouline vineyard stretches across steep slopes, where the Syrah vines benefit from optimal sun exposure. The soils, composed mainly of schist and clay, impart a pronounced minerality to the wines. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters, promoting perfect grape ripening. Environmentally friendly farming practices help preserve biodiversity and best express the unique character of this exceptional terroir.

Owner and history

Today, the Domaine E. Guigal is headed by Philippe Guigal, continuing his grandfather's legacy, his passion for wine and his attachment to the land are at the heart of his approach. He is committed to producing exceptional wines while respecting the environment. Thanks to his expertise and vision, the domaine has established itself as one of the leaders in the appellation Côte-Rôtie, and their vintages are now benchmarks for enthusiasts worldwide.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process at La Mouline is meticulous. The grapes, carefully hand-harvested, are destemmed before being vinified in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation, carried out at a controlled temperature, allows for the extraction of aromas and color from the berries. Aging takes place in oak barrels, some of which are new, to bring complexity and roundness to the wine. This aging process lasts approximately 18 months, during which the wine develops its structure and elegance, while respecting the identity of the terroir.
