THE Château d'Ampuis 2020 is one of the house's most prestigious vintages E. Guigal. Unlike the "Lala" (La Mouline, La Turque, La Landonne) which are parcels, the Château d'Ampuis is an assemblage of seven exceptional terroirs (THE Clos, La Garde, La Pommière, Pavillon Rouge, Le Moulin, La Viria and La Landonne), located on the two historic slopes of the appellation: the Côte Blonde and the Côte Brune.

Here is the portrait of this 2020 vintage, a year marked by a great purity of fruit.

Planted on hillsides by les Romains Twenty-four centuries ago, this renowned vineyard was divided between the Côte Brune, upstream from the Reynard stream, and the Côte Blonde downstream. Composed almost exclusively of Syrah, the Côte Brune produces a powerful and intense wine. The Côte Blonde displays greater subtlety thanks to the presence of Viognier, which enhances the Syrah. This appellation owes its existence to... Château From Ampuis, this beautiful legend: “The Lord of this place had two daughters, one as dark as night, the other as blond as wheat. He endowed them by giving each one of his best hillsides when they were married. We have inherited the Brown Hill and the Blond Hill.”
