    Description

The Clos des Goisses 2013 from Maison Philipponnat is much more than a champagne: it is a legendary wine, from one of the most emblematic and steepest terroirs in the region.
The "Clos des Goisses" takes its name from the old Champagne dialect "gois", which designates a very steep hillside.

This great Champagne will be a marvel with lobster, langoustines, fine fish or even with caviar.

    Producer

    Producer

Over the course of its history, Maison Philipponnat has built a twenty-hectare vineyard of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, ideally located in the heart of Champagne, while maintaining close relationships with partner winegrowers who entrust their production to the house. These relationships contribute to a broad yet highly consistent range of Champagnes that are both rich and precise.

    Owner and history

Clos des Goisses covers 5.8 hectares of vineyards laid out on a hillside with a 45° incline. It is the oldest terroir in Champagne. The name of the vineyard comes from the old Champagne dialect word "gois," which refers to a very steep hillside. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines are planted in pure chalk soils facing due south.

    - Partial vinification (47%) in oak barrels
    - No malolactic fermentation
    - Minimum aging period of 8 years

    The team's opinion

The 2013 vintage is recognized as a "late" and cool year, producing wines of great elegance, driven by vibrant acidity. This wine benefits greatly from being decanted about thirty minutes before tasting to fully release its complexity. Serve it at around 10-12°C in large glasses.
