The Petrus vineyard spans approximately 11 hectares, planted mainly with Merlot on rich clay soils. This unique composition promotes the concentration of aromas and the structure of the wines. Bordeaux's temperate climate, with its warm summers and mild winters, contributes to the optimal ripening of the grapes, thus allowing for the production of wines of great complexity. The carefully cultivated vines are the reflection of expertise passed down from generation to generation.

    Owner and history

Currently, Château Petrus is managed by the Moueix family, who have successfully preserved the heritage and renown of this exceptional vineyard. With an unwavering passion for wine, they continue to innovate while respecting traditions. Their commitment to quality and sustainability is at the heart of their philosophy, ensuring that each vintage reflects the very essence of Pomerol. Thanks to their expertise, Petrus remains one of the most sought-after and admired wines in the world.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking of Petrus 1990 is a work of art in itself. The carefully selected grapes are vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the aromas. Malolactic fermentation, carried out in barrels, adds extra roundness to the wine. The aging, lasting about 18 months in oak barrels, contributes to the harmony of flavors and the complexity of the wine. Each step is carried out with meticulous attention, ensuring that every bottle of Petrus 1990 is an authentic expression of its terroir.
