The Petrus vineyard covers approximately 11 hectares, with clay soils that retain moisture and nourish the vines. This unique geological feature, combined with a temperate oceanic climate, promotes optimal grape ripening. Vineyard management is meticulous, with particular attention paid to each plot. The harvest is carried out by hand, ensuring rigorous selection of the grape bunches.

    Owner and history

Today, the estate belongs to the Moueix family, who have preserved Petrus's heritage and identity while modernizing winemaking practices. Jean-Pierre Moueix, an iconic figure in the wine world, played a key role in the estate's growth, contributing his expertise and passion. Under his leadership, Petrus continues to produce wines of exceptional quality, reflecting time-honored winemaking traditions.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for the 2009 Petrus follows a tradition of excellence. The carefully sorted grapes are destemmed before being fermented in stainless steel tanks. Maceration is prolonged to extract the full richness of the fruit. The wine is then aged for 18 months in oak barrels, some of which are new. This delicate process refines the aromas and structures the wine, ensuring its longevity.
