The Petrus vineyard covers 11 hectares, primarily planted with Merlot, which thrives in a unique clay soil. This rich and nourishing earth allows the vines to reach their full potential. The vines, averaging 40 years old, are cultivated with care, favoring low yields to ensure quality. The region's temperate oceanic climate contributes to the harmonious ripening of the grapes, resulting in complex aromas and an elegant structure.

    Owner and history

Today, the Petrus estate is owned by the Moueix family, who have preserved its heritage and excellence. Jean-Pierre Moueix, an iconic figure in Bordeaux, played a crucial role in Petrus's global renown. His passion for wine and his respect for the terroir ensured the exceptional quality of the wines. The Moueix family continues to innovate while remaining true to tradition, thus guaranteeing the enduring legacy of this great Pomerol wine.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for the 2014 Petrus is the result of meticulous expertise. The hand-harvested grapes are carefully sorted before being vinified in stainless steel tanks, allowing for a gentle extraction of tannins. Aging takes place in oak barrels, a percentage of which are new, to impart subtle woody notes without masking the fruit. This process, combined with extended aging, allows the wine to develop its full complexity and depth, revealing the unique character of the Pomerol terroir.
