The Petrus vineyard covers approximately 11 hectares, planted primarily with Merlot. The clay soil, rich in iron, contributes to the unique character of the wines. The vines, averaging 40 years old, are cultivated with respect for the environment, allowing for an authentic expression of the terroir. The region's temperate oceanic climate promotes optimal grape ripening, guaranteeing concentrated aromas and a beautiful acidity.

    Owner and history

The estate is currently run by the Moueix family, who acquired Petrus in the 1940s. This family's passion and commitment to winemaking excellence are evident in every bottle. Their approach blends tradition and innovation, ensuring that Petrus maintains its reputation as one of the world's greatest wines. Their vision is clear: to produce wines that transcend time and continue to dazzle wine lovers.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Domaine Petrus is carried out with meticulous care. The hand-harvested grapes are carefully sorted to select only the very best. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in oak barrels, some of which are new. This winemaking process results in an elegant tannic structure while preserving the purity of the aromas. Each step is designed to reveal the quintessence of the Pomerol terroir.
